Diana Braithwaite, Chris Whiteley & Bluesmove

“Inspired by Memphis Slim, Memphis Minnie, and Tampa Red…Braithwaite and Whiteley have a beautiful way with a song" Blues Revue Magazine-USA

“A joyful collaboration between two prolific high profile members of the blues and roots music scene,” Greg Quill, Toronto Star

Diana Braithwaite, a fourth generation Canadian whose descendants came to Canada via the Underground Railroad (a secret route used by black slaves to escape to freedom), is an award winning songwriter and gifted performer.  Inspired by such greats as Memphis Minnie and Bessie Smith, she captivates the audience singing lively delta blues standards and deep, spiritual blues with equal finesse.  A recipient of the African/American Women In The Arts Award in Chicago, Diana frequently tours Europe and the UK and has performed/recorded with Mel Brown(!), Albert Collins, John Lee Hooker and Jeff Healey.

Chris Whiteley brings a wealth of experience with him as a multi-instrumentalist who has performed on over 150 recordings by such diverse artists as Leon Redbone, John Hammond and Blind John Davis.  Chris, along with his brother Ken, were the first Canadians to feature at the Chicago Blues Festival.  He is the winner of 4 Canadian Maple Blues awards

Although they met years ago, and had worked together on the Canadian blues scene, it wasn’t until 2004 that Chris Whiteley and Diana Braithwaite decided to compose, record and tour together. Their first CD collaboration MORNING SUN, garnered rave reviews, extensive air play, and led to multiple Canadian MAPLE BLUES AWARD nominations, including Album of the year.

BluesMove draw on their vast combined experience to give you cutting edge blues grooves with an intensity to make you move, and a night you won't forget.  They are THE backing band of choice for all touring musicians from around the globe, performing this role most recently for Steve Arvey and Sherman Robertson.  Linking up with Braithwaite and Whiteley is a natural progression for them.

Trevor Rowley

Since last appearing at KBC in March 2009 Trevor has been to Nashville recording at Scotty Moores studio with Nick Nixon and Nil's Lofgren's guitarist Buck Brown.  The studio engineer was Bucky Barrett, Roy Orbison's guitarist for 11 years.
