BLUES IN THE COMMUNITY Keighley Blues Club is committed to supporting local charities and good causes. These are some of the things we get up to!
4TH SEPTEMBER 2009 Keighley Blues Club raises £500+ forThe Living Hope Hospital, Nigeria The charity is run by Shona Featherstone, a mid-wife at Airedale Hospital. The aim is to reduce the maternal deathrate in Nigeria of 1 in 15 by educating the population about care in pregnancy and raising funds to improve facilities. 4TH SEPTEMBER 2009 Keighley Blues Club sends £200+ to The Martletts Hospice, Hove. This hospice providing palliative care for terminally ill patients, was the place where John Whippy, of The Elevators band, spent his final days. By way of selling a double 'live' CD, including tracks recorded at KBC, our regulars have raised more than £200 in memory of John to be used to further the good works of this marvellous establishment.
19TH DECEMBER 2008 Keighley Blues Club gives tickets to Andrea's Gift charity Andrea's Gift raises funds to support research into the treatment and cure of child and adult brain tumours. The tickets, for the Cadillac Kings, were passed on to sufferers and their carers. www.andreasgift.org.uk.
28TH NOVEMBER 2008 Keighley Blues Club gives tickets to the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice Manorlands hospice provides palliative care to terminally ill patients. The tickets, for the Ian Parker Band, were given as raffle prizes at their Christmas Fayre.
5TH SEPTEMBER 2008 Keighley Blues Club Raises £814 for Keighley & Craven People First
The Blue Bloods Fred The Oyster Raffle prize winner People First are an international charity supporting social and self advocacy groups run by and for adults with learning disabilities.
