Trevor Rowley Since last appearing at KBC in March 2009 Trevor has been to Nashville recording at Scotty Moores studio with Nick Nixon and Nil's Lofgren's guitarist Buck Brown. 15th October - The Nimmo Brothers (Special Guest: Paul Cowley).
Tickets: Members £10; non-Members £12
The Nimmo Brothers “The new album (Picking Up The Pieces) is a perfect example of why the Nimmo Brothers continue to rule the roost on the British blues-rock scene”. Lionel Ross, Blues In Britain.
Last at KBC on 25th April 2008, the return visit of this rocking band is long overdue. Guitarist siblings Stevie and Alan Nimmo from Glasgow first performed together professionally in the late 1990s and have since gone on to highlight the best in powerhouse British rock and blues. Their material is rooted in the traditions of the British blues boom of the 1960s but includes enough rock elements to keep most blues/rock fans happy. The band play with power and their Glaswegian attitude plus the incredible energy they inject into every performance has gained the Nimmo Brothers an enviable reputation. Now in 2010 The Nimmo sound is stronger and more powerful than ever as they dust down the old orange valve amps and haul out their treasured Les Pauls and Strats to promote their latest CD ‘Picking up the Pieces’ and once again become THE band to be reckoned with on the world blues scene. Musically stunning they never fail to impress audience after audience with their show. For all sorts of other infor visit http://www.myspace.com/thenimmobrothers. Simply the best blues/rock band in the UK.
Paul Cowley An impressive fingerstyle/slide guitarist with laid back and often poignant vocal style. Rooted in country blues but contemporary & original.
29th October - Toby Walker (Special Guest: Graham Robinson).
Tickets: All tickets £7
Toby Walker "If he doesn't get them with his phenominal guitar playing or catchy songs, he gets them with his wonderful stories. Arlo Guthrie has it. David Bromberg has it and so does Toby". John Platt, WFUV
Toby Walker is a unique, accomplished finger style guitar virtuoso adept at blues, rags and hot country picking, coaxing more out of a guitar than anyone can imagine, but the originality doesn't end there. He is also a skilled singer and songwriter who draws inspiration from traditional and contemporary music. Toby’s passion for the blues and other traditional American music sent him into the deep south where he tracked down old time musicians of an earlier era, learning directly at the feet of Etta Baker, Jack Owens and many others. He shares this music and the stories of his travels in each of his performances. Toby takes this foundation and creates something uniquely his own and has been eagerly received in concert halls, festivals, schools and coffeehouses throughout the U.S., England and Europe. His songs can make you shake with laughter or, bring a tear to your eye.
Graham Robinson Last at KBC in December 2008, Graham returns to Keighley after two sessions (one solo, the other alongside Junkhouse Dog) on the Acoustic Stage at this year's Colne Blues Festival. Originally from Jarrow, Graham now lives in Colne and will be bringing his old Stella guitar on which to demonstrate his skill as a tremendous finger picker. Expect to hear material from Blind Blake, Big Bill Broonzy and Lonnie Johnson. Visit his website at http://www.blueguitars.co.uk/.

Tickets: Members £10; non-Members £12
Marcus Malone
"As a performer Marcus Malone has few, if any, peers and as a packed house witnessed, this was truly the performance of the entire Festival" Burnley Blues Festival
Marcus Malone is a modern-day blues man, originally from Detroit, Michigan, USA. He composes both soulful and rocking blues songs, infusing them with the energy they deserve. His superb, silky smooth voice with its great range beautifully tops off his wonderful stage presence that is the envy of many. His reputation is such that he can call on some of the best musicians on the circuit to be in his band.
Sean Taylor "Absolutely superb guitarist...reminiscent of John Martyn". Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2 Sean Taylor has over the last decade established himself as one of the hottest new names in the UK blues/acoustic scene, frequently compared with John Martyn, Chris Isaak and Tom Waits. The past year has seen Sean play at a score of festivals, including three stages at Glastonbury, Blue Balls in Lucerne, Tolpuddle Martyrs, Tenby Blues and Broadstairs Folk Week. As well as headline gigs across the UK, Sean has toured Switzerland and played support slots for the likes of Neville Brothers, George Benson, John Fogarty (Creedence Clearwater), Band of Horses, The Groundhogs and Chickenshack. Long Trick Long Trick want you to have a good time. Dammit THEY want to have a good time. However they can only achieve this their way. By writing and performing their own stuff. It feels more honest and personal like that - "IT'S BLUES JIM BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT" - Sure LT respect the traditions and you will hear elements of Fred McDowell, Son House and Muddy Waters among others in their music. 17th December - The Stumble (Special Guest: The Blues Jukes)
Tickets: Members £10; non-Members £12
The Stumble "The hit of the weekend for many of us - and arguably the top band on the UK circuit at present". Boogaloo Blues Weekend 2009 review from 'Blues In Britain' magazine. Probably KBC regulars all time favourite band The Stumble are back for a record breaking fifth time. First with us in July 2006, they are commonly recognised as being the best thing to come out of Lancashire! Paul, Simon (recently nominated for 'best Sax Player' in the 2010 British Blues Awards), Colin, Boyd, Jonny and Dave are dedicated to the red hot rapturous feel of electric Chicago blues. Energy abounds in this band and with two guitars and a sax in the front line there is plenty of variety in the playing. But then there is Paul Melville, singing his heart out and encouraging everyone on to the dance floor. A great front man in front of an excellent band. The Stumble look like they are enjoying themselves and want everyone to have the same experience. Go to the 'Listen To The Blues' section of this website to hear tracks. Learn more about the Stumble at http://www.thestumble.com/
The Blues Jukes According to the band they are “Hailing from the Great Northern Blues Belt on the Yorks/Lancs Border....
7th January 2011 - Fuschi 3 (Special Guest: David Bristow). SPECIAL KBC MEMBERS NIGHT!
Tickets: Members FREE!; non-Members £8
Fuschi3 Fuschi3 are Francesco Fuschi aka Paolo (guitar and vocals), Dave Lloyd (bass and backing vocals), Rick Hughes (drums and percussion). Check out their website at http://www.myspace.com/fuschi3.
David Bristow Travelling from Stratford-upon-Avon David (whose Dad was from Keighley) is the only 'Special Guest' to appear at KBC for a fourth time, he first brought his melancholic songs to the Club in March 2008 and immediately became a firm favourite. Betrayal, bereavement, adultery, heartbreak, booze. This guy’s lived it all. To see him perform is to see someone laying their life bare on stage. Mournful vocals allied to elegant guitar picking ensure David is one of the top exponents of this particular blues genre. His latest CD ‘Better The Devil You Know…’ was rated 10 out of 10 by ‘Blues In Britain’ magazine and should be on sale at the gig. But beware – it’s not a bundle of laughs, but it is quite superb nonetheless.

21st January - Paul Jones & Dave Kelly (Special Guest: Dan Burnett).
Tickets: Members £14; non-Members £16
Paul Jones & Dave Kelly
In February 1979 Paul had the idea of getting a band together to play some blues – just for fun. He phoned his old Manfred mate, Tom McGuinness, to see if he wanted in. He did. A quick phone call to Hughie Flint got him in on the act. Dave Kelly joined soon after, bringing Gary Fletcher with him, and ‘The Blues Band’ was born. Thirty one years on and the band (minus Flint, plus Rob Townsend) is still doing the rounds, spawning many spin-off combos, including the duo visiting KBC. For the last 24 years Paul has been an articulate presenter of blues-based radio programmes – initially on Jazz FM, then on BBC Radio 2 and has just completed his first solo album for 30 years 'Starting All Over' where his sidemen include the likes of Percy Sledge and Eric Clapton.
If there is such a thing as a British 'blues pedigree', then Dave Kelly's sets the standard. Kelly is a blues craftsman - a journeyman who has served his time with the best. In New York he jammed with Muddy Waters. He became a friend to Howlin' Wolf and John Lee Hooker, who both felt the benefit of Dave's playing in their touring bands. It was Dave's big sister, the late Jo-Ann Kelly, who first opened his ears to the blues. In 1967 he joined The John Dummer Blues Band. After three albums and a solo project he continued to polish his style and technique throughout an adventurous career with some of Britain's finest players. When The Blues Band was formed in 1979, the post of slide guitarist and joint vocalist was a foregone conclusion. Dave Kelly's guitar and vocals form the very backbone of The Blues Band's distinctive sound.Today, after many years 'treading the boards' with the band, with his solo albums, duo tours with Paul Jones, and soundtrack work (for commercials and such projects as BBC TV's 'King of the Ghetto' and the Comic Strip's 'Strike!') Dave Kelly is firmly estabished as one of Europe's premier blues performer. Dan Burnett From Harrogate, 28 year old keyboard player Dan’s mix of blues with a hint of jazz has already seen him play on the same bill as Robert Cray and The Fabulous Thunderbirds in the USA. He describes his piano playing as a mixture of Jools Holland and Rowlf of Muppets fame!
From four weeks before the gig tickets can also be bought in person from Keighley Cougars Reception (10am-4pm) and G.E. Thornton & Sons, Main Street, Crosshills during normal shop opening hours (closed lunchtimes 12 noon until 2pm).
28th January - The River Devils (First of the evening's three sets will be Sandy Tweeddale, solo and acoustic).
Tickets: All tickets £10
The River Devils One of THE hits of last season, the River Devils defied the worst conditions last winter could throw at us to get to KBC from Edinburgh and deliver two blistering sets of memorable rocking R&B that will live long in the memory of those hardy souls who managed to make it to the gig. Fronted by widely respected singer, guitarist and songwriter Sandy Tweeddale of BB King-endorsed 'Blues 'n' Trouble' fame, the band play the blues, but with a gutsy Hammond B3 organ sound. Their influences range from from Bo Diddley to Booker T and the MGs, by way of Big Bill Broonzy and JB Hutto. There’ll be some BB King type blues, swamp slide guitar, T-Bone Walker and other classic blues styles – not forgetting the gutbucket, rocking blues that Elmore James and Houndog Taylor were revered for - all reflected in the band’s own fiery, original material. Last time, Sandy gave a short two song burst of his acoustic reportoire - a Scott Joplin rag and Davy Graham's 'Cocaine' which prompted the Club to ask him to open the concert with a complete acoustic set this time round. See videos of Sandy and the band at KBC by clicking on the song titles: 'Cocaine' - Sandy Tweeddale (solo) 'She's Dressed Just Trashy' - River Devils Listen to a couple of tracks recorded live at KBC on the 'Listen To The Blues' section of this website. 18th February - Wang Dang Delta (Special Guest: Al Hughes).
Tickets: All tickets £10
Wang Dang Delta "One of the more original bands on the UK blues scene" Blues Matters From Perth, Scotland, this outstanding 6 piece band are Pete Caban (guitars, guitars and more guitars), Alan Sutherland (keyboards and prog-rock attitude), Pim Pirnie (drums, percussion), Jim Harcus (more harmonicas than a harmonica superstore), Ian McLaren (vocals, guitar and witty repartee) Callum Keith (bass, bass and more bass).
Al Hughes Better known as frontman and founder of Lights Out By Nine, Al is rooted in the blues and soul tradition like so many Scottish singers, he writes from his own perspective on topics which are very much of today. His influences can be clearly seen, but make no mistakes, this music is modern, relevant and gathering praise from a growing number of well respected figures on the UK blues scene. 18th March - Son Henry & The East Side Kings (Special Guest: Simon Currie).
Tickets: Members £10; non-Members £12
Son Henry & The East Side Kings "The Son Henry Band is the best blues band in theWorld right now; Son himself is a master trailblazer in some of the dirtiest, skankiest, holiest hot rod of a lap steel guitar anyone has a right to hear" Radio Enigma, Alberta, Canada. Internationally regarded as one of the best living lap steel guitarists in modern Blues, Alaskan maestro Son Henry and his band have been destroying stages across Europe since 2005, and finally (after two earlier attempts to get them) bring their explosive stage show to KBC for a night to remember. You may have seen them at the Burnley Blues Festival a few years ago, when (playing his second encore) Son brought the house down with a lap steel version of 'Voodoo Chile' and then took it down to a whisper for the Sam Cooke classic 'A Change Is Gonna Come' leaving the audience breathless. "No two gigs are ever the same with this guy and, once again, we were treated to a mix of old, new, original and arranged as only this man can. Spontaneous, fun and bursting with energy, the set was truly electric". Blues Matters.
Simon Currie "The songs give you goosebumps on the goosebumps". Cherrie McIlwaine, BBC Ulster. Last at KBC in April 2010, Simon returns to Keighley from his Invergowrie eerie with a fresh collection of sparse, bleak songs so reminiscent of Nick Drake and John Martyn.
